1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone

1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone for sale in California. A 1965 restyling gave the Comet vertically stacked headlights that made it look more like a Ford than a Mercury. The grille used a horizontal bars theme. The cyclone came only as a hardtop.Cyclones had all the standard equipment including bucket seats, console tach, unique wheel covers and a distinctive twin air scoop fiberglass hood. The 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone was priced at $3,544.00.

A 289 cubic inch engine that developed 225 horsepower was standard and had a 9.3:1 compression ratio. Option engine was a 289 cubic inch with 271 horsepower. A three speed transmission and a four speed was $188.00 extra. In a quarter mile the Cyclone ran at 82 MPH in 17.1 seconds.

1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport for sale in Georgia. This Chevelle Muscle Car is an original SS car and was restored in 2006 and almost everything on the car was rebuilt, restored, or replaced. The car runs and drives as good as they come and the restoration on the car alone exceeded $40,000. The paint is as slick as glass and the body is laser straight. It is rust free and the body panels and the gaps are excellent.

The engine is a 396/350hp Chevelle motor with a four speed. The motor has been completely rebuilt with high performance parts and it has that classic big block rumble. It runs very strong. The 4-speed transmission shifts smooth and this car is a real pleasure to drive. A lot of attention was paid to detail during this restoration and it shows. This is the kind of car that the closer you look the more that you like the car.

1968 Plymouth Road Runner

1968 Plymouth Road Runner for sale in Louisiana. Plymouth was the first to exploit the market for a low priced performance American Automobiles with the 68 Road Runner. The idea of putting a powerful engine in the cheapest, lightest model was not new. But with the Road Runner, Plymouth did all the work for the customer. With a low price youthful buyers could the Road Runner. Using Road Runner identification and a horn that emulated the cartoon bird's "Beep-Beep" got attention in the marketplace.

A stripped Plymouth Belvedere coupe was the basis for the Road Runner. The Road Runner came with a bench seat, rubber floor mats, a hot V-8 and a standard four speed transmission. A two door hardtop was added mid-year 1968. 29,240 coupes and 15,359 hardtops were produced. 1,019 were made with the Hemi engines. The Road Runner coupe sold for $2,896.00 and hardtops were priced at $3,034.00. Engine options increased the price. Available were a 440 cubic inch 350 horsepower engines, 440 cubic inch 375 horsepower and a 426 cubic inch 425 horsepower.

This 1962 Galaxie 500XL stood out as one of the best examples of Ford Muscle Cars. It was large and had clean lines along with a powerful 406 cubic inch V-8 that developed 405 horsepower. This engine was equipped with triple carbs and a special cam. It was known as a "T-Bird Special 406". Included with 406 special was a B-W four speed with ratio's of 2.36:1, 1.78:1, 1.41:1 and 1.0:1. This Ford Muscle Car obtained speeds of 140 MPH, 7 seconds 0-60 and the 1/4 mile in 15.5 seconds at 92 MPH.

1970 AMX For Sale

In 1970 the AMX was built tougher with its new 360 cubic inch V-8 that developed 290 horsepower. Other options included a 390 cubic inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower A four speed transmission on the floor was standard and a Hurst shifter was also standard.

AMC built only 4,116 1970 AMX for sale. On the outside the AMX got new rear lamps and a restyled front end shared with Javelins. The grille was flush with the hood and a redesigned bumper housed square parking lamps. A horizontally divided, crosshatched grille had four very prominent bright horizontal moldings. The grille also incorporated circular rally light. The bumper even included an air scoop to cool the front brakes. The restyled hood had a large ram-induction scoop and the 1970 AMX looked more like its pony car rivals. Factory price for the 1970 AMC was $3,395.

1962 Chevrolet Bel Air For Sale. In 1962 the 409 could be had in any big Chevrolet. The 409 "Bubble Top" Bel Air was a heart stopping combination. This hardtop got its nickname from the vast sweeps of front to rear window glass and was a great drag car due to its lighter weight. This 409 was fit with a close ratio four speed and no one could come close in the stoplight drags. At the strip it reached 115 MPH in the quarter mile.

The first 409 Chevys with the lightweight Z11 drag racing package were built in late 1962. They had aluminum hood, inner fenders and front fenders. About 100 cars were built by Chevrolet. Factory cost $2,668.00 and it had a 119 wheelbase. the base engine on the 1962 Bel Air was a 283. However a 327 cid 250 hp, 327 cid 300 hp, 409 cid 340 hp and a 409 cid 380 Hp engine was available.

1964 Pontiac GTO For Sale In Florida

1964 Pontiac GTO for sale in Florida. The 1964 Pontiac GTO was the first true Muscle Car. The GTO package was an extra cost package for the Tempest LeMans. The GTO option came out for the LeMans coupe, hardtop and ragtop. It included a 325 horsepower 389 cubic inch V-8 with a special cam, special hydraulic lifters, single Carter four barrel, dual exhaust, special six inch rims with red striped tires. Other options included bucket seats, center console, hurst shifter and special wheel covers. A 348 horsepower tri-Power option with three two barrel carbs. Production was 7,384 GTO Coupes, 18,422 two-door hardtop and 6,644 ragtops.

What does GTO stands for? "Grand Turismo Omologato". Based on the Ferrari 250 GTO that was made from 1962 to 1964.

1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird

1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird for sale in Oregon. Factory base price $4,298, 117 inch wheelbase, 104 MPH in the quarter mile. The final volley in the battle of muscle car aerodynamics was the '70 Superbird. With a 7.0 liter engine limit competing automakers turned to wind cheating body designs like the "winged warriors" Chrysler '69 Dodge Daytona and '70 Superbird. Designed for NASCAR superspeedways, these Mopars both featured a long peaked noise and a rear deck airfoil mounted on struts. NASCAR's 1969 rules called for 500 copies of a model to be built to make it race legal. For 1970 the rule was one car per dealer. 1,971 Superbirds were built.

The most popular engine was the 440 cubic inch Super Commando V-8 with a four barrel carburetor. A total of 1,120 Superbirds came this way. Amother 716 cars were equiped with the 440 Six-Pack. That leaves 135 Himi Birds, 77 with automatics and 58 with four speed transmission.

Raccars used the Race Hemi and the combo was enough to lure Richard Petty back to racing Plymouth after a year with ford. Petty Engineering hired Pete Hamilton to run a second Superbird at selected events in 1970 and he promply won the Daytona 500.

A black striped hood with a standard fake scoop replaced the completely matte black hood of the 1969 mustang.

1968 AMX 390 for sale in Texas. AMX meant "American Motors Experimental" This American Automobile was the first steel bodied two seater since the 57 T-Bird started as a prototype in 1966. The Base V-8 was a 290 cubic inch 225 horsepower. Engine options included a 343 cubic inch 280 horsepower and a 390 cubic inch 315 horsepower V-8. In the 1/4 this car could do 95mph at 14.8 seconds. This 1968 AMX 390 had a 97 inch wheelbase, reclining bucket seats and woodgrain interior trim. 6,725 cars were built and the average price was $3,245.00. 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS for sale in Louisiana. The Impala Super Sport was the first true American muscle car. This option could be ordered for Impala Coupes, Sedans and Hardtops.
